Privacy Policy
Oman Impact is a student project created by a Grade 9 learner. It is not a company, charity, or official organisation. This Privacy Policy explains in clear language what happens (and what does not happen) with information when you visit this site.
1. Who runs this website?
The website is run as a school project by a single student with guidance from teachers and family. The aim is to practise writing, web design, and environmental awareness, not to collect data or make money.
2. What information do we collect?
The current version of Oman Impact is a simple static website. We do not create user accounts and we do not ask you to log in. However, some basic information may be collected in the following ways:
- Basic technical data: Like almost every website, the hosting provider may receive your IP address, browser type, and the page you visited. This is mainly used to keep the site running safely.
- Contact form (planned): The contact page is designed to let visitors send feedback or questions. In the current school version it is not connected to any external service yet. Once it is connected (for example through Formspree), the form may send your name, email address, and message to a private inbox so the student can read and reply.
- Comments (planned): The project may later use a service like Disqus to allow comments under articles. In that case, the information you enter into the comment box (name, email, comment text, and any profile data) will be handled directly by the comment service.
3. Cookies and third-party services
Some services that might be added to this site in the future use cookies or similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. They help a service remember your preferences or understand how people use a website.
- Google AdSense (planned): The idea of Oman Impact is that future ad revenue could be donated to environmental charities in Oman. If Google AdSense is activated, it may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure performance. To learn more about how Google uses data, you can read Google's policies at policies.google.com.
- Disqus or similar comment system (planned): A comment service may set its own cookies and log information about your use of the comment box. Those services have their own privacy policy that you should read before using them.
- Formspree or similar contact service (planned): A form service might process your message and forward it by email. It may also store technical details (for example, your IP address and the time the form was submitted) to prevent abuse or spam.
Right now, the school version of this website may not yet use all of these tools. If a new service is added later, this Privacy Policy should be updated to describe it.
4. How do we use your information?
If you choose to share information (for example through a future contact form), it may be used to:
- Read and respond to your questions or feedback.
- Improve the content and design of the website based on what visitors find helpful.
- Keep the website safe and prevent spam or abuse.
We do not sell your personal information or use it to build advertising profiles. Any advertising idea is only for showing simple ads on the site so that possible revenue could be donated to charity.
5. How long do we keep information?
If you send a message (once the form is connected), the message may be stored in an email inbox as long as it is needed for the project, for example during the school year. After that, old messages may be cleaned up or deleted.
Technical logs kept by the hosting provider or third-party services may be stored for a limited time according to their own policies. As a student, the site owner cannot fully control those logs but does not use them for any extra tracking.
6. Children's privacy
Oman Impact is created by a student and may be visited by other students and children. Young visitors should avoid sharing full names, home addresses, or phone numbers online without a parent or guardian.
If you are a parent, guardian, or teacher and you believe a child has shared personal information on this site that should be removed, you can contact us and we will try to delete it as soon as possible.
7. Your choices
- You can choose not to use the contact form or comment system.
- You can change your browser settings to block or limit cookies.
- You can ask for a message you sent to be deleted, if it can be found in the inbox.
8. Contact
For any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can use the contact page on this site once it is fully active, or speak to the teacher responsible for the project.
